Owners of wakeboard boats may feel constantly inclined to grab their family and friends and head out for adventures on the water. No matter how excited you are to take your boat out or how much experience you have, you should always adhere to the necessary safety protocols while wakeboarding.

Northwest Inboards of Issaquah, WA, doesn’t simply provide top-tier wakeboard boats, we also educate our customers on proper boat safety. That’s why we’ve prepared these tips below to keep you, your passengers, and your boat safe from harm.

Gear

It is mandatory that all passengers and wakeboarders wear the necessary safety gear as long as they’re on the water. This includes U.S. Coast Guard approved life jackets for everyone on board and helmets and goggles for wakeboarders. Not wearing the right gear places you at risk of major injuries in case of a spill on the water.

Care & Attention

As the captain, you should also ensure you have additional persons on board who can act as a spotter and keep an eye on the person being towed behind the boat. Given the noise and the need to pay attention as you navigate, you may not be able to determine if your wakeboarder has had an accident or let go of the tow rope. It’s also important to ensure your propeller has completely stopped before allowing your wakeboarders to reenter the boat.

Rules & Regulations

As a responsible wakeboard boater, you should always be mindful of the rules that are in place to keep you and your fellow boaters safe. This means avoiding all restricted areas as well as refraining from using drugs or alcohol while operating a wakeboard boat or participating in wakeboarding activities. You should also restrict your wakeboarding to daytime hours to avoid any mishaps.
